SAS Forum Milan 2019: Shape the New

This was the question that accompanied the 2019 edition of SAS Forum Milan held on June 4 in the innovative setting of Mi.Co. in the heart of Milan CityLife. A day entirely dedicated to data and what we can do with it to shape a new business! which we still do not know in depth today! but which! with the right inspirations! can undoubtedly lead to success for many companies that wish to look forward by taking confident steps on the history of their processes that generate infinite quantities of data.

It all starts with the slogan “Shape the New” and the intervention of various speakers. Marco Icardi ! Regional Vice President SAS and CEO SAS Italy! has the honor of opening the dance in front of an audience of over 2!000 people! inviting us to think about this and how to “orchestrate” the path of the companies of managers! executives! and leaders gathered in the room. Analytics and Artificial Intelligence are real possibilities that help us support the entire vital process of our planet and for this very reason they must be exploited and modeled to suit the company! always guaranteeing full security of the information they process.

How to shape the new?

Also highly appreciated by the audience was the speech by Anders Indset ! defined as the “philosopher of business”! aimed at bc data europe reasoning on multiple aspects and habits of our life that go against the model that will serve us in the near future. Almost like a visionary! he made the audience gathered in the plenary session think about how in the coming years! we will be forced to take our steps in the business field: maximizing one’s own profit above all else! will cost humanity dearly. A warning! a caution! which at the moment will serve to lay the foundations for a future approach to the global economy.

Several companies that are already focusing everything on the future have taken to the stage! with innovative technologies that can already gather useful ideas for the “tomorrow”: BANCOMAT! Yolo Group and Volkswagen Group Italia have where do an online store’s sales come from? put forward a lot of technology in this sense! analyzing their customers’ habits and modifying their business model to arrive before the competition in a new economic era.

But which companies have already started to “shape the new”?

The afternoon was marked by the Inside Forum ! spaces for discussion led by experts in the field who told practical cases of application of tools related to Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. We had the honor of following with amazement how the data collected by the Policlinico Gemelli in Rome can be useful to improve the service provided by the hospital itself and to guarantee certain waiting times at the precise moment in which a service is prescribed… and not only that. On this journey we were accompanied by Dr. Vincenzo Valentini ! Scientific Deputy Director Head Health Big Data of the Policlinico Gemelli who we had the estonia leads pleasure of interviewing:

The project carried out within the Policlinico has positive implications for the doctor and the patient. Thanks to some algorithms and by analyzing a significant amount of data! it is possible to establish a priori whether one therapy or another makes sense in certain conditions.

Although the decision-making role of the doctor is fundamental in any situation! colleagues tend to see positively a work that helps evaluate the available options based on the data and specifics of the case. The doctor always retains autonomy while maintaining his own moral! ethical and legal burden. Therefore the predictive model cannot be absolute. Furthermore! the professional role is fundamental: it is extremely complicated to replace a doctor with a robot!

Themes that recall some science fiction films of the last century! but that in some way have given inspiration for the future: the continuous desire of man to discover or invent the impossible today becomes real! but we must know how to exploit it to the best.
